Installation of a fence from a professional flooring with the base. How to pour the foundation for a metal profile fence with your own hands. Some features of the foundation device

  • The choice of corrugated board
    • What to make poles
    • Fasteners

If the homeowner wants the fence of his site to not require repair for many years due to skewed posts or subsidence of the soil, he should choose a concrete tape as the basis for his fence. Its construction will take no more time than the installation of pillars, but in terms of durability and reliability, it is many times better than supports made of timber or metal pipes installed in the ground. A fence made of corrugated board on a strip foundation looks more presentable and will last for decades.

The choice of corrugated board

You can not talk about the color scheme, each owner chooses the color that is more suitable for decorating a residential building and a plot. But the thickness of the sheets, and hence their brand, are of great importance for the further operation of the fence. There are three types of profiled sheet: roofing, wall and bearing. Each of them differs in the thickness of the metal base and the protective coating layer.

A fence from a profiled sheet will have the strength that is optimal for this structure if it is made of wall material.

It is the most suitable choice of profiled sheet for fence construction. The optimal thickness of the protective coating is from 0.6 mm. The height of the wave in the case of the construction of the fence has a purely aesthetic purpose.

What to make poles

  • timber 100/100 mm or 150/150 mm (hardwood and well dried);
  • iron pipes with a wall thickness of at least 2 mm and a cross section of at least 50 mm;
  • supports made of brick or concrete blocks;
  • pillars made independently by pouring concrete into hollow asbestos-cement pipes or formwork from roofing felt rolled into a tube.

Fasteners

The scheme of the gate from corrugated board.

As accessories for corrugated sheets, there are self-tapping screws with a sealing washer and a head painted in the same color as the base material. But you can choose other fasteners and independently select a rubber ring for them, which will prevent moisture from penetrating the metal and, as a result, corrosion. On average, 5-6 self-tapping screws are required per 1 m² of span. The components for the corrugated board are screwed in using a screwdriver with a special cue ball that matches in size and shape with the head of the fastener.

To cut a profiled sheet, you will need a grinder with a metal disc 1.5 mm thick, scissors or a hacksaw. To mask the chips and scratches that inevitably occur during cutting, an anti-corrosion primer and paint sprayed from a can are used. In this case, the corrugated fence will be neat.

The device of the strip foundation for the fence from corrugated board

Scheme of the foundation for a fence made of corrugated board.

  • first of all, they make markings: a straight line is drawn on the ground, which should be drawn relative to some landmark: a road, a residential building or other structure;
  • for the tape, a width of 20-25 cm will be sufficient. The depth of the sole must comply with the rules for installing such a foundation. The choice of depth is carried out taking into account the type of soil at the construction site of the fence, GWL (groundwater level) and TPG (soil freezing point);
  • regarding the depth of laying the concrete tape, they are guided by the following recommendations: if the soil is clayey and wet (very heaving), then regardless of the level of GWL and TPG, the sole is buried 20-30 cm below the freezing point of the soil. If the soil on the site is mobile (dry sand and sandy loam), the recommendations are similar. For dense soil (loam, dry clay, stony, coarse wet sand), it will be enough to make MZL (shallow strip foundation). In this case, the sole of the tape is deepened by 20-40 cm. If the soil is heaving and the groundwater level is high, it is recommended to make a “floating” strip foundation;
  • for the device of backfilling and concreting, you will need: sand brought from a quarry (not river), cement grade M300 or M400, gravel or crushed stone of an average fraction, water;
  • for the formwork device, lumber with even, strong walls is required: edged board, sheets of thick plywood or OSB boards. For reinforcement - ribbed reinforcement A3 with a section of 10-12 mm and smooth metal bars 6-8 mm thick.

  • according to the markings on both sides of it, measure the distance required for the width of the tape, add 10 cm to it on the left and right. In this case, it will be possible to fit the formwork into the moat;
  • form a trench around the entire perimeter of the future fence;
  • the bottom of the ditch must be leveled horizontally. To do this, use the hydraulic level. Then the soil is compacted with a vibrating plate;
  • waterproofing is laid in the form of sheets of roofing material folded in 2-3 layers;
  • pour quarry sand. If it is dry, you will need to moisten it with water from a hose. When it seeps into the ground, leveling and tamping are performed. Sand layer - 5-7 cm;
  • a gravel "pillow" 10-15 cm high is formed in a similar way;
  • pre-mounted formwork panels are installed in the trench. In order for the walls to be located strictly vertically, they are reinforced from the outside with supports made of wooden bars;
  • proceed to the manufacture of reinforcing mesh. Corrugated reinforcement acts as horizontal rods, crossbars and vertical bars are cut from smooth. All parts of the grid are interconnected either by welding or by knitting wire.

Installation of fence posts from corrugated board on a strip foundation

Scheme of the strip foundation device.

If it is decided to use pipes, beams or home-made concrete supports, the installation of the supports is started at the stage of manufacturing the armored belt. Before laying a mesh of reinforcement into the formwork, the location of the pillars is marked. But first they calculate the length of the spans, taking into account the thickness of the supports. The standard height of the profiled sheet is 113-120 cm, the length can be different: from 30 cm to 12 m. Depending on the dimensions of the purchased material, the width of the spans is calculated, given that it should not exceed 2-2.5 m.

The places where the pillars should be located are marked with wooden or metal pegs. Supports (or formwork for pouring concrete) are installed vertically and fixed in this position with spacers. A reinforcing mesh is mounted around each post, which should contain 2-3 horizontal layers of corrugated reinforcement bars.

If required, concrete is poured into the formwork. If wood is used as pillars, it should be covered in several layers with an antiseptic or fire-retardant composition. For metal pipes, they buy an anti-corrosion primer. Concrete pillars are coated with a waterproof primer for cement and plaster work. A reinforcing mesh is placed in the formwork and connected to the armored belt around the posts.

Pouring a strip foundation for a fence from a profiled sheet

Scheme of installation of a fence from corrugated board.

A sufficiently viscous solution is prepared in a concrete mixer, consisting of 1 part of cement, 3 parts of sand and fine gravel (screenings can be used). The number of stones should not exceed 15% of the volume of the solution. They check the strength of the fixation of the pillars and proceed to pour concrete into the formwork. This work is carried out gradually, waiting for the previous layer to set sufficiently to fill the next one.

Concrete needs to be compacted by piercing it with a piece of reinforcement. This will help the air escape and evenly distribute the mortar over the formwork. The top layer of the tape is leveled horizontally with a trowel, trowel or wide, durable spatula. The formwork can be dismantled after a few days, but concrete gains the required strength only after 3-4 weeks.

Installation of a fence on a strip foundation

Between the pillars it is required to lay the crossbars. They can go in 1-2 rows. If the fence is high, there should be at least two crossbars in each span. If the pillars are metal, then an iron corner 4/4 cm is used as beams. It is attached to the supports by welding. If the poles are wooden, a board, including unedged, can act as crossbars. For concrete pillars, you can choose both methods.

When the frame of the fence on the strip foundation is ready, proceed to the installation of corrugated board. The spans are measured and the parts are cut for their sewing in such a way that the profiled sheet overlaps by at least one wave. The metal profile should be fixed along the grooves of the corrugation every 25-30 cm. To make the fence look neat, the distance between the screws is measured with a ruler.

When tightening the fasteners, be careful not to overtighten them. It is required to leave some space for the free movement of the corrugated board during the expansion of the sheet caused by changes in ambient temperature. This will prevent deformation of the fence skin. If scratches or chips are formed during installation as a result of careless movements and work with the tool, these places must be degreased with a solvent or acetone and coated with an anti-corrosion primer. After it dries, paint is sprayed from a spray can, thereby masking these cosmetic defects. To ensure that the edges of the metal sheets are not too sharp, they are treated with sandpaper.

A fence made of corrugated board on a strip foundation: installation of the base, pillars, sheathing

In order to build a fence from corrugated board on a strip foundation, you will need to know how to choose a profiled sheet and how to mount it. It is important to understand the sequence of work on the tape device.

The term "strip foundation" means a monolithic tape of concrete mix. The calculation of its width and depth may vary depending on what type of fence is planned to be erected - brick or profiled sheet.

Often the width of the structure is 250-400 mm, and the depth is 500-600 mm. The array of fencing is reinforced with reinforcing rods with a diameter of 8 to 14 mm. Reinforcement is mandatory if you plan to make a columnar fence that provokes an uneven load.

Features of the device strip foundations

Among all types of foundations for fencing, the strip foundation is considered the strongest, most reliable and easiest to install. You can lay a brick fence on it, from a profiled sheet and even heavy metal forging.

What should be the foundation for a brick and corrugated fence?

To build a brick fence and a fence from a profiled sheet, a different approach to the foundation is required. As a rule, the brick type requires a base width of 40 cm and a height of 40 to 50 cm. It should go 30-40 cm deep into the ground. The rest rises above the ground. Reinforcement of the structure is mandatory to avoid its subsidence and deformation.

How to calculate the foundation for the fence?

Before calculating the structure, it is necessary to determine the depth of penetration into the ground and its area. The first parameter is determined quite easily. To build a lightweight foundation for a fence made of corrugated board, a fixed value is taken - 50 cm.

The manufacture of heavy - brick - bases requires taking into account the characteristics of the soil massif and the size of the object as a whole. If it is not possible to find out these parameters, then we calculate the depth of soil freezing and add another 40 cm to the value. The freezing layer for each region is determined separately.

First you need to calculate the area of \u200b\u200bthe sole. For this, there is a formula S > F / K * K (N) * R, in which:

  • F is the total pressure on the ground, that is, the payload of the fence;
  • K is the coefficient of conditional work; for clay soils and rigid structures, it ranges from 1 unit, for non-rigid ones - 1.4;
  • K (N) is the reliability parameter (equal to 1.2);
  • R is an indicator of soil resistance.

To make a calculation of materials for the foundation, we take its cross section 0.5 × 0.7, length 100 m. It turns out that its total volume is 35 m 3. For one cubic meter of concrete, 340 kg of M200 cement, 1.05 m 3 of quarry sand and 0.86 m 3 of crushed stone are needed, then 11900 kg of cement, 36.75 m 3 of sand and 30.1 m 3 of crushed stone will be needed for the volume of the conditional foundation. To calculate the material for reinforcement, it is necessary to take into account its diameter.

Foundation pouring technology

The foundation for a fence made of corrugated board and brick is made using the same technology, including the following steps:

  1. The brand of concrete is selected (usually M200).
  2. A trench is being developed for the entire length of the fence along its perimeter. Its width should be 20 cm more than the concrete tape for arranging the formwork.
  3. The pillow is filled with a ten-centimeter layer of sand and carefully rammed. To facilitate this stage, it is worth moistening the surface of the sand with water. A layer of gravel is laid on top of the material, at least 10 cm thick and also compacted.
  4. If we are talking about a columnar fence, then it is necessary to drill holes with a diameter of 20 cm around the entire perimeter of the trench. The step between them is 250-300 cm. The depth of the holes is calculated as follows: the depth of the trench plus forty centimeters. Their bottom is filled with sand.
  5. Formwork is being prepared. If it is plank, then a 25 mm board is taken. The formwork should protrude 30-50 cm from the surface of the earth. It is fixed with wooden blocks and soil.
  6. Reinforcement is in progress. 4 rods are taken with a diameter of 8-10 cm for a corrugated fence and 12-14 for a brick one, and connected into a frame.
  7. If you plan to insert pillars into the foundation, then it is worth tying reinforcing belts around them and connecting them to the reinforcement of the base.
  8. When the reinforcement is ready, concrete is poured. Until complete hardening can take from seven days to a month. At this time, it is necessary to moisten it with water.

Shallow strip foundation for a fence

For quick erection of the structure, it can be used under a corrugated fence. It is effective on non-rocky soils, when there is no danger of pillars sticking out of the ground. It takes less materials, so this type of foundation is popular in private construction.

To equip a fence from a profiled sheet with a height of 1.8 to 2 m, it is necessary to prepare a trench up to 40 cm deep and fill it with a mixture of crushed stone and sand. For a shallow foundation, it is permissible to use reinforcing rods with a diameter of 10-12 mm.

They must be laid at a distance of 5 cm from the walls of the trench. The fewer connections between them, the stronger the shallow foundation structure.

To make poles around the perimeter of a shallow fence, at the stage of laying the foundation, one and a half meter holes are made in the soil mass using a gas pump. After pouring the pit with concrete mixture, it is necessary to wait up to two weeks and only then proceed with the dismantling of the formwork.

The choice of high-quality and durable corrugated board for the fence is, of course, very important, but the foundation is the basis of any design, including corrugated board fences. It is he who ensures the reliability, strength and durability of the fence of the infield.

Foundation for corrugated fencing

Most likely, you have seen small breaks and cracks in the base of the supporting pillars of the fences, as well as warped gate leaves resting against each other. All this is a consequence of insufficient attention to the strength and reliability of the foundation for a corrugated fence.

Why do you need a foundation for a fence from a profiled sheet?

The installation of the fence has its own specifics and the requirements for it differ from those for more massive, but not so extended structures. The stability of a fence is influenced by many different factors, including

  • seasonal changes in ground level as a result of its freezing in winter and thawing at the onset of positive temperatures;
  • soil subsidence as a result of poor compaction of the base of the foundations during construction, as well as as a result of washing away the soil with groundwater or storm water;
  • exposure to significant bending and overturning wind loads, the cause of which is the large "sail" of the fence made of corrugated board;
  • ground displacement caused by vibration - this is especially significant in cases where the site fence is located near a highway or railway.

To compensate for all these external influences, a strong and reliable foundation is needed.

When building heavy fences made of stone or brick, one cannot do without the same massive monolithic foundation. Fences made of corrugated metal sheet have a significantly lower weight, so the foundation for a fence made of corrugated board can be much lighter. But the depth of its laying at the same time should be somewhat larger, since its main task is to counteract the pressure of the wind on the fence canvas.

Most often, three options for foundation designs are used for profiled sheet fences. These are columnar, strip and strip-columnar foundations.

This design is the simplest and requires the least investment. When constructing a columnar (or columnar) foundation for a fence from a profiled sheet, the fence supports are not connected into a single structure. Each of them independently resists the load acting on the sections of the fence adjacent to it.

In fact, the device of such a foundation is reduced to the installation and concreting of each fence post separately. The fence supports are installed in pits dug to the depth of soil freezing in the region. Usually for the middle band it is from 1.0 to 1.2 m.

Scheme of a columnar foundation for a corrugated fence

The size of the pit should be 400x400 mm. At the bottom of it, a sand cushion 100 mm thick is made. After installing the fence post, the pit is covered with earth by 300-400 mm, while the soil is carefully compacted. When the verticality of the support installation is checked by level, the pit is filled with concrete mixture to the level of the ground surface.

After the concrete hardening is completed, you can proceed with the installation of horizontal girders and fixing the corrugated board. Such a foundation for a fence made of corrugated board is used only for fences of low height and is undesirable for use on subsiding soils with a close occurrence of groundwater.

Strip foundation for a fence from a profiled sheet

This design is most often used for various lightweight fences, including corrugated fences. Despite the relatively small depth of laying, the strip foundation provides the necessary strength, stability and durability of the fence. It is performed in the form of a narrow tape of concrete, which is why it is called tape.

The width of the foundation is usually not more than 20-30 cm, and the laying depth is 30-50 cm from the ground surface. In order for the foundation to be a single structure that perceives the loads acting on the fence along the entire length of the fence, steel reinforcement is placed inside the concrete for its entire length.

For the installation of a strip foundation for a fence made of corrugated board, a trench is dug in the ground with a depth of 50-70 and a width of 25-40 cm. At its bottom, a sand cushion is made with a seal 100 mm thick. Then formwork is installed in the trench from boards, plywood or metal sheets. It must hold the concrete mixture in that part of the strip foundation that is above ground level and, subsequently, will serve as the base of the fence from the profiled sheet.

After the formwork is installed, metal fence posts are driven into the bottom of the trench to a depth of 40-50 cm. Then, steel reinforcement with a diameter of 10 mm is mounted inside the formwork in two tiers.

The lower row of reinforcement is laid on stands at a distance of 3-4 cm from the trench wall. At intervals of approximately 30-40 cm, the longitudinal rods are connected with transverse bridges. Then vertical racks are installed from reinforcement of a smaller diameter. Metal reinforcing bars of the upper tier are attached to them and, like the lower ones, they are connected with reinforcement bars.

Scheme of a strip foundation for a fence made of corrugated board

If the fence supports are made of steel pipes or a metal profile, it is better to connect them to the foundation reinforcement using electric welding. This will make the fence even more durable and reliable.

After installing the pillars and reinforcement, the foundation for the fence from the profiled sheet is poured with a concrete mixture of brand 200 (B15). The formwork is removed when the concrete reaches 70% of its strength. At positive ambient temperatures, this happens in about 7-10 days.

Thus, the device of the strip foundation is reduced to the following operations:

  • marking and excerpt of the trench;
  • installation of poles;
  • arrangement of a sandy base for the foundation;
  • formwork installation;
  • laying reinforcement;
  • preparation and pouring of concrete mix;
  • demolition of formwork.

Tape-pillar foundation for a corrugated fence

This design combines both of the above options for constructing a foundation for profiled sheet fences. The device of such a foundation begins with marking the places for installing fence posts and excerpts of holes for them. Then proceed to the installation of formwork. When the formwork is ready, fence posts are installed in the dug pits using a plumb line or level.

It is important not only to choose the right material for the fence itself, but also to arrange a solid and reliable foundation for it. It is he who is the key to durability, strength, reliability of the fence. Behind such a wall you can hide from prying eyes and noisy dusty roads.

In our article, we will consider what types of foundations for fences exist, how to choose the right foundation for corrugated fencing, how you can do it yourself without involving expensive specialists for work.

Choose the appropriate option: from massive to tape

Today, several different structures are used as foundations for fences, including:

  1. Pillar foundation for a fence. With this option, holes are dug for supporting pillars, in which pillars are installed. After that, all this is poured with concrete or sand-concrete mixture. Such foundations, which are easy to make with your own hands, are distinguished by their simplicity of construction and low price. This type of foundation is used, as a rule, for lightweight fences: from metal mesh, wood. It is also possible to install a pillar foundation for corrugated board fencing, when strengthening concrete slabs. The installation depth of the support pillars depends directly on the type of soil, height and total weight of the fence.
  2. The tape-pillar foundation is a concrete tape that has separate pillows for the installation of supporting pillars. The diameter of such posts and the width of the tape depend on the type of fence and its height. To ensure stability and reliability, the foundation tape and support pads are necessarily reinforced. This ensures a uniform load on the entire structure. Such a foundation for a fence is excellent for the construction of wooden and brick structures of various heights, it is often used in construction. For the construction of such a foundation, pits are first dug under the supporting pillars, then a trench under the strip foundation. A sand and gravel cushion is poured at the bottom, pillars are installed, after which formwork is placed. The most common concrete mortar is used, its drying time depends on the parameters of the tape.
  3. For massive and heavy fences, a monolithic type of foundation is used - on a gravel cushion. The concrete solution is laid in layers, each layer is compacted. Do-it-yourself fence supports are already installed on the foundation itself. For fences made of corrugated board, this option is not used.
  4. The stone foundation is made of stones of various shapes: it is considered one of the most reliable, but it is mainly used for stone fences or forged metal fences. The cost of such a foundation is quite high - for its construction it is necessary to attract specialists.

As we can see, several types of foundations are used for a corrugated fence, including pillar and tape-pillar (or just tape).

As a reinforcement for very high fences, a special metal bar is used, the diameter of which can be from six to thirty-two millimeters, but small reinforcement is usually taken for corrugated fences.

What influences the choice of foundation?

The foundation for the fence from the profiled sheet is selected taking into account the following factors:

  • when planning the foundation, it is necessary to take into account the type of soil and the level of its possible subsidence during seasonal changes in temperature and humidity;
  • the possibility of washing away the future structure with sewage or groundwater;
  • when constructing a fence from corrugated board, despite its relatively low weight, it should be borne in mind that weak soil can sag under the total weight. Therefore, when constructing fences with your own hands, it is still necessary to obtain recommendations from specialists regarding construction work on a particular site;
  • when made of metal sheets, choosing the foundation and the height of the fence itself, one must take into account the likelihood of the effect of torsion and bending from sailing (therefore, it is recommended to do solid fences from corrugated board with all responsibility);
  • when installing a fence near busy roads, highways, railway tracks, it must be remembered that the foundation for the fence must withstand vibration loads, loads from soil deformation, and so on.

Marking the area for the installation of a fence

Before starting to build a structure under, it is necessary to mark the territory on the site. This work is very simple, it consists in the following: along the entire perimeter, small wooden pegs are driven into the ground in the place where the fence is planned to pass. The most ordinary rope is pulled between the pegs.

The pit for pouring the pillars is usually made 1.5 meters deep.

Further work will depend on the chosen design. So, for the simplest pillar option, holes of the required depth are simply dug along the designated perimeter (usually this is a depth of eighty to one hundred and fifty centimeters): the depth depends on the type of soil and the weight of the fence.

It is easy to do this with your own hands with a shovel; it makes no sense to involve expensive equipment. The distance between such pits can reach up to three meters (which also depends on the dimensions of the corrugated sheet).

For a strip type foundation, such preparatory work is slightly different. Along the marked perimeter of the future fence, a trench is first dug with a width equal to the future tape and a depth of up to half a meter. After that, pits are made for supporting pillars in the manner described above. Such do-it-yourself preparatory work may take a little longer; It is very convenient to perform them with two or three people.

To prevent the collapse of the earth, it is recommended to install formwork with a height of up to fifteen centimeters; additionally, reinforcing bars with a diameter of eight millimeters can be strengthened. Thus, the marking and preparation of the perimeter for the foundation is over.

Design choice

Let's go back to choosing a foundation for a fence made of corrugated board with our own hands. As we have said, to a greater extent it depends on the type of soil, the weight of the structure and its height.

Usually, the pole version, as the simplest, is made for a low corrugated fence, which has a simple design without additional reinforcement. Such fences do not create heavy loads, they are quite stable on their own.

In the event that the height of the fence is significant (up to 6 meters), in addition to the corrugated board itself, other materials will be used for work: reinforced support pipes, additional profiles, and so on. It is best to put the foundation under the fence according to the type of tape-pillar. At the same time, the depth of such a foundation will be at least forty to sixty centimeters, and the supporting pillars will have to be placed much more often than three meters.

Stages of the tape structure device

Let us consider in more detail how you can make a foundation for a fence of a tape-pillar type. First, we do the preparatory work with our own hands, as indicated earlier. The distance between the pits for supporting pillars should be two to two and a half meters.

The recommended depth of such pits is sixty to eighty centimeters, but it may be more depending on the height of the fence itself. After that, with our own hands we make a pillow from a rolled roofing material at the bottom of the pits, lower the pillars into them, which must be hammered to a depth of up to twenty centimeters. After that, we tie the supports ten centimeters below the ground level with the help of reinforcing bars, we also launch reinforcement throughout the tape.

With the help of wooden boards, we make a formwork with our own hands, which should be fifteen centimeters higher than the planned basement height. We prepare the concrete solution and fill the trench. Filling must be done in layers so that no voids are formed that affect strength.

It will dry up to two weeks: at this time, the position of the supports must be periodically monitored. On hot days, the plinth should be watered.

The formwork is disassembled no earlier than a week later - it is better to wait for the concrete to dry completely.

Such a foundation will be very strong - it will last for decades, even with very heavy loads.

The foundation for a corrugated fence does not have to be tape at all. It can also be made using another technology - the optimality of tape pouring is dictated by the minimum financial costs for the purchase of building materials and labor costs for their use.

Basic fence building techniques

There are by no means many of them, at least six are actively used:

  • Stone or brick fence. Massive, solid and solid, a complete guarantee of the absence of prying eyes and an effective barrier to predatory encroachments. Materials for such fences are expensive, and the device itself is not only costly, but also time-consuming;
  • Reinforced concrete slabs in special supports - used for fencing enterprises and organizations, they are practically not found around private houses;
  • Lattice fence made of forged rods or standard rolled metal. Openwork and light, it can be an impressive element of landscape decor, but it is blown by all the winds. It is hardly cheaper than stone, craftsmen are needed for manufacturing and installation - you cannot make forged structures yourself and you cannot weld them to each other in a quality manner;
  • Wooden fence, a classic of the genre comes from a rustic picket fence. It is built quickly, simply and cheaply - and wears out almost with the same speed. If you want to regularly repair your fence, choose a wooden version of its arrangement.
  • Hybrid fences - made of stone and forged elements, with brick inserts and mosaics. Pompous buildings of pathos architecture of the highest price category, sometimes their cost is comparable to the price of the house itself, protected by such a fence;
  • Structures made of economical and durable corrugated board, light, economical and with a decent service life. You should not expect great aesthetic merits from them, but reliability and durability are quite acceptable.

A strip foundation for a fence made of corrugated board is optimal in most repair cases, but we will consider other ways to make a foundation for a fence made of corrugated board.

The website site masters have prepared a special calculator for you. You can easily calculate the right amount of corrugated board for the fence.

Foundation for a corrugated fence - possible options

In general, the fence around the house can be based on the following building structures:

  • Pillar filling. At a distance of 1 to 5 meters from each other, holes of considerable depth are dug, depending on the type and weight of the pillars up to 1.5 meters. During installation, the pillars can be driven into the ground, after which they are poured with a cement-gravel mortar. The fasteners of the main intake web are carried out to the supporting pillars protruding from the ground. Pillar casting is suitable as the basis for a corrugated fence, but the distance between the supports should be made small due to the windage of the perforated sheets, which significantly affects the repair budget;
  • Monolithic pouring - for swampy soils and heavy fences, with the installation of load-bearing pillars on previously laid concrete layers. It is often used as a foundation element for buildings attached to it. Costly, but valued even more;
  • A stone foundation, which in the strict sense is not a foundation (it is not deepened into the ground). A stone belt up to a meter wide and up to a meter high is assembled from massive boulders, fixing metal fittings and mortar - and the fence itself is already mounted above it. For light and economical profiled sheet is not used.
  • Strip foundation encircling the perimeter of the site, with elements of fastening reinforcement for profiled sheets periodically protruding from above. It may have separate in-depth pillows with supporting pillars, such a foundation is called a tape-pillar foundation. The only foundation for a fence made of corrugated board, poured with your own hands without any problems, is precisely the tape. In terms of the classic combination of price / quality, strip and strip-pillar structures as supports for profiled sheets have no competition.

The foundation for a fence made of corrugated board - with your own hands, step by step and carefully

A reliable tape-type foundation must go through several mandatory stages in its creation.

Foundation for a corrugated fence - a step-by-step diagram

Step 1: marking

A number of pegs with twine are hammered along the entire perimeter of the future fence, it is stretched in one line. It is obligatory to fix the twine at all turning points of the fence, and especially at the places of future gates and gates. To estimate the scope of future work, you will probably need a theodolite or similar measuring instrument. The height difference along the entire length of the fence can be significant - and this will require in-depth excavation in one area and more superficial in another. No one needs extra hours of work as a digger.

Step 2: Digging a Ditch

A ditch with a depth of at least 30-35 cm is dug along the entire fence line, an identical operation is performed when laying paving slabs and similar landscaping works. At the installation sites of the pillars, it will be necessary to deepen it significantly, up to 60-90 cm (depending on the type of soil).

For ordinary corrugated board, the recommended distance between the mounting posts is no more than 2 meters, otherwise, with strong gusts of wind, our fence can fly into a fairyland. The minimum trench width is 40 cm, because formwork will be installed inside it and will take part of the size.

Step 3: pole and reinforcement

We install poles in recessed nests, as a rule - from cut iron pipes, and not necessarily new ones. Old pipes with a diameter of 50 mm or more (preferably at least 80 mm) are also suitable. Taking into account the underground part, the height of each pipe must be at least 2.5 meters - nevertheless the fence must exceed the height of the average person. Each pole is precisely set on a plumb line, its strict verticality is very important. The pillars are fastened in bulk, with a mixture of broken bricks, gravel and stones, with a guarantee of reliable fixation.

Before installing the formwork, the bottom of the trench is covered with gravel or crushed stone, about 5 cm thick, as a "cushion" for the concrete solution. Then the "reinforcing belt" is laid - a horizontal strip of reinforcement with pins going up. The fence itself will be attached to these pins, they protrude 5-8 cm above the layer of future concrete pouring. The fittings are taken the most ordinary, corrugated, with a diameter of 15 mm.

Step 4: install the formwork

The most difficult and laborious stage. Formwork is mounted from boards and fiberboard on a gravel cushion - inside the trench and with an exit above the soil level by 20-25 cm. The clearance and verticality of the formwork planes should be observed. If it is possible to rent a prefabricated formwork made of light metal structures, this will greatly simplify the installation stage for arranging the foundation. The installed formwork is fixed from the outside (inside the ditch) with rubble and stones, the earth is not used for these purposes. Check the accuracy of the exposed formwork several times - corrections can only be made before the start of concrete work.

Step 5: concrete

The solution is poured into the formwork and post pits in stages - and this will be a different solution. The underground part is poured with concrete (cement + sand + gravel), and the upper part - with a cement-sand mixture. The phased pouring is explained by the need to avoid internal voids in the foundation. After the completion of concreting, the formwork boards can be removed the next day, but the installation of a corrugated fence begins only after a week. The concrete structure must dry well and acquire the necessary hardness. To do this, the concrete foundation is regularly watered.
